I know Nanbara Shigeru with TV and checked today.
He was the person who put the cornerstone of Japan after the war.
He fought to defend peace and democracy and academic liberty.
He was the Tokyo University president in the postwar.
He was a politics philosopher with a political scientist.
He thought the way of a nation from every angle.
He continued to offer the wisdom that is born from the thinking penetratingly to the citizens.
He was foreseeing that the mechanism of the Constitution is faced with the great difficulty of history someday.
At present, half are requesting the constitutional reform in Japan.
He said it in 1951 year.

Bushido values loyalty/sacrifice/faithful/shameful/courtesy/innocent/frugal/thrift/military spirit/honor/affection.
'Loyalty'
It is faithful and honest
'Sacrifice'
It doesn't consider the loss for a purpose
'Faithful'
It defends that promised without fail and accomplish the duty as a person faithfully
'Shameful'
The heart is chaste and the feeling that knows shame strong
'Courtesy'
It is the manners that a human being must defend to keep the discipline of a society
'Innocent'
The heart and deed are correct without having a back dark place
'Frugal'
The life isn't luxurious and thrifty
'Thrift'
It doesn't waste money and thing
'Military spirit'
It values chivalry/bravery

It gets the fame that is superb

Love
The Japanese spirit is a Japanese peculiar mind.
It is the heart that respects righteously with brave.

Japanese has esteemed these heart from old times.
However "Japanese spirit" changed to the one that was controlled mind when it becomes Meiji.
It became the thought called Japanese spirit to die for the emperor. Nationalism was born after the Meiji Era.
"Japanese spirit" took the shape to a radical meaning.
Especially, the color of militarism became strong in the Second World War period.
It continued until Japan is defeated with the second world war.
"Japanese spirit" itself parted from the main tide of the culture/the realm of thought of Japan after the defeat.
